About

I am a London-based Chinese-Irish director, writer, and theatre maker.

My work is fun, silly, comical, imaginative, sometimes tragic, often personal and always playful.

After a BA in English and Theatre at Leeds University (2008-11) I trained at the Young Vic Directors Springboard Scheme (2012) and Ecole Philippe Gaulier (2013-2015). Since then I have been a freelance director alongside being the Artistic Director of Mouths of Lions theatre company from (2013-2020) which produced touring theatre for families and young people. I was the Associate Director at the Octagon theatre (2022-2024) where I managed the Literary Department and Artist Development. I also directed several productions, including the mainstage festive production of 'A Christmas Carol', which broke box office records and was featured on Channel 4 News. In 2025 I was the Associate Director at the Almeida Theatre and supported Omar Elerian's production of 'Rhinoceros' starring Told by an Idiot's Paul Hunter. I also co-directed with Cal McCrystal a clown show called 'Garry Starr: Classic Penguins' - (Guardian's Best Comedy 2024) which is currently on tour. I am also on the Board of Trustees for the Dukes Theatre Lancaster.

As a freelance director I often collaborate with devising companies and solo artists such as Stumble Trip Theatre, HASTE and Damien Warren-Smith.

Directing 'Buds, Revolt!' by Elisabeth Tu a playful and poetic absurdist comedy exploring food, migration, identity, and the chaotic in-between spaces we inhabit when we don’t quite belong. WIP at the Union Theatre April 14th/15th.

Working with emerging artists is also one of my favourite things to do and I am currently coaching:

Mandeep Singh on his second show 'Singh When You're Winning - A Clown's Journey Through F1' - click here for tickets to his WIP at Brighton Fringe in May.
